Forget Glastonbury, on the 14th – 16th of June, Newark is where music lovers will want to be!

Newark Festival is back aNewark Festival logond it’s going to be bigger and better than ever! With an unbelievably good line-up, the promise of delicious food and the guarantee of a spectacular party it’s going to be a weekend you don’t want to miss.

Newark Festival is an annual music and family fun festival that takes place in the Riverside Park on the banks of the River Trent. The festival always promises to entertain us with some of the very best in music. Previous line-ups have included Scouting For Girls, Madness and Marti Pellow, however, this year the organisers have outdone themselves!

We’re here to give you a rundown of what you can expect at this year’s festival – music lovers, this festival is for you!

FRIDAY NIGHT

Friday night is party night! This year the organisers are bringing in some of the very best of young talent to begin your weekend the right way.

Becky HillWe kick off with the brilliant Becky Hill – a singer-songwriter with soul-stirring powerful vocals. You might recognise her from her Number 1 platinum selling single Gecko (Overdrive) with Oliver Heldens which we’re pretty sure we danced to throughout the summer of 2014! She’s also featured on tracks like False Alarm with Matoma and the Gold Top Ten hit Afterglow with Wilkinson, her first solo single Sunrise In The East was released in 2018 with the promise of a new album on the horizon! We know that Becky Hill is going to bring the fun on Friday night and we can’t wait to celebrate with her!

SIGMATo keep the party going well into the night is the incredible SIGMA. If you haven’t heard of SIGMA we recommend you Google them this instant! Their music is an awesome fusion of dance and pop and we’ve had way too much fun dancing to their hits on a night out! Their success is undisputable with over five million singles sold and over 450 million YouTube views. They’ve also collaborated with some of our favourite artists including Rita Ora (Coming Home), Take That (Cry), Ella Henderson (Glitterball), Labrinth (Higher) and Paloma Faith (Changing). They promise to play all their hits and more so the only question remaining is…are you ready to party?

Does Friday night take your fancy? There is still time to pick up some tickets, avaliable here – be quick, they’re selling fast!

SATURDAY NIGHT

If you think the Friday night line-up is good then just you wait until you see the acts booked for Saturday night. If you like 90s and early noughties rock music then the  line-up is right up your street!

The FeelingKicking off the night is The Feeling. You’ll know them from their terrific hits, including Never Be Lonely, Sewn and I Thought It Was Over. Quite honestly, I’ve been singing their song Fill My Little World at the top of my voice when it comes on the radio since 2006! We’re so glad that The Feeling are back after their brief hiatus and we’re so excited that they’re coming to Newark – we’re going to have to get our dancing shoes on!

Newark then says a huge welcome to the Lightning Seeds, a hugely respected and talented English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1989. You might remember them from a very famous song that made a very triumphant come back last summer…Three Lions! Their collaboration with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner is the gift that just keeps on giving. We can’t wait to hear all their hits including Lucky You, What If…, You Showed Me and Sugar-Coated Iceberg live and in the beautiful surroundings of Newark riverside!

RazorlightAs always we save the best till last. Headlining the evening is the amazing…drumroll please…Razorlight! You’ll have heard about Razorlight, the brilliant English indie rock band formed by lead singer and guitarist Johnny Borrell. They are without a doubt one of the most compelling, maverick guitar bands to have emerged out of the UK as demonstrated in their whopping album sales – selling over four million albums around the world. The band have released hit after hit including Somewhere Else, In the Morning, America, Golden Touch and Wire to Wire. We’re so excited that one of our favourite bands is coming to Newark and we know it’s going to be an unbelievably amazing night – one you do not want to miss!

However, there is more to Newark Festival than just the music. There will be some delicious food and drink on offer as well as the FREE family fun day out on Sunday, which will include children’s music and activities as well as those all-important fireworks!

Additionally, before heading over to the festival why not take a wonder into Newark Market Place, just a short walk from the Riverside Park, for the Food and Drink Festival. Browse over 50 food and craft traders from around the East Midlands and enjoy fascinating food demonstrations. Additionally, nationally acclaimed street artists will be on hand to entertain you with shows throughout the day accompanied by the best of local musicans.

We’ll certainly be there, can we expect to see you at what promises to be a spectacular weekend?
