Newark Marketplace will be full of quirky, crafty and preloved items for sale on 27 & 28 May for the Newark Spring and Artisan Fair.
- Besieged Again! at NCWC
The National Civil War Centre in Newark is running its Besieged Again! programme of fun family performances and craft activities from 26 May to 3 June.
- Bug hunt at Thoresby
Thoresby’s Big Bug Out takes place from 25 May to 3 June. An activity booklet can be picked up at the Courtyard visitor centre and costs £1.
- Circus fun in the park
On 1 June, there is a chance to learn circus skills at Sconce & Devon Park. This FREE family activity includes juggling, spinning, balancing and clowning around!
- Crafts at The Workhouse
From 26 May to June, The Workhouse in Southwell will have different types of activities daily in its Family Space, from crafts to games. The activities are free, but normal admission charges apply.
- Dancing around the Maypole
Wellow is Nottinghamshire’s only Maypole Village and has a special Maypole celebration on 28 May – experience the crowning of the May Queen and Maypole dancing.
- Falconry experience at Kelham Hall
On 27 May, Hawkeye Falconry is holding a group falconry experience at Kelham Hall where you can gain knowledge of the ancient art of falconry. Special offer ticket price: £20. Under 10s free.
- Follow the poetry trail
Download the trail and visit three fabulous venues across Newark, Sherwood and Southwell to be in with a chance to win a bundle of books and prizes from local artists. Free to enter.
- Food & Drink Festival
Rufford Abbey is hosting the Great Food and Drink Festival from 26 to 28 May. There will be chef demonstrations, workshops, stalls, pop up restaurants and entertainment.
- Hands-on at the Craft Centre
Wednesday 30 May is children’s craft day at the Sherwood Forest Arts & Craft Centre in Edwinstowe. Run by the resident artists and crafts people, children can take part in a range of activities.
- Heros and princesses at Wheelgate Park
Get your best superhero or princess outfit on and head to Robin Hood’s Wheelgate Park for halfterm fun from 26 May to 3 June.
- Medieval knights by the Major Oak
On 26-28 May head to Sherwood Forest to visit the living history camp by the Major Oak and meet the Falchions as they depict life in the 14th Century. Free Event.
- Mini-beast safari at Sherwood Forest
Head to Sherwood Forest for family fun at the mini-beast safari. Suitable for children aged 3 and above, it involves a 1 mile walk. £2.50 per child. Takes place 31 May and 1 June.
- Open studios art
Why not visit some of the wonderful open studios and artists events taking place as part of Open Studios Notts 2018 in May and June.
- Outdoor cinema at Rufford
There will be free viewings of The Trolls plus ticketed viewings of The Greatest Showman, set in front of the historic Abbey ruins, from 1 to 3 June.
- Pirates in the Park
Go on a pirate adventure and dig for gold at these FREE park events. Takes place at Sconce and Devon Park on 31 May 1pm-3pm. Takes place at Vicar Water Country Park on 30 May, 1pm to 3pm.
- Re-enactment of the first siege of Newark
Regia Anglorum, the living history society, is coming to Newark Castle to re-enact the siege of Newark. Takes place 26-28 May, 10am to 4pm.
- Southwell Minster tour
On Monday 28 May and Saturday 2 June, there will be an open day at Southwell Minster. Tours will be available at £5 for adults and £3 for under 14s. Not suitable for children under 7 years of age.
- Tracks, Trails & Signs
On 3 June, join in with a ranger-led walk at Sherwood Forest and investigate the food, footprints and faeces of the natural habitants! £3.00 (concessionary: £1.50 children under 16).
