I think it’s fair to say that everyone has Christmas on the brain. It’s that time of year when everyone is scrambling for the best Christmas tree, plotting what they need for Christmas dinner and most importantly figuring out what on earth you’re going to get everyone!
If you’re like me and dread heading to the cramped shopping centres and want to shop somewhere that has a bit of character and Christmas spirit then Newark & Sherwood is the answer to all your prayers!
Newark is a traditional market town with a vibrant market trade. The market place itself is overlooked by the Grade I listed Georgian Town Hall which will now be all decorated and lit up for Christmas – it looks magical! On the 9th & 23rd December there will be an artisan craft and gifts market taking place which is an absolutely perfect opportunity to buy unique and special gifts. If it’s a Christmas market you’re dying to attend then Newark also has you covered, on the 15th & 16th December it’s Newark annual Christmas market and Winter feast. There will be music and street entertainment, festive food and drinks, gifts and crafts – everything to get you well and truly prepared for Christmas.
We are also very fortunate to have many independent shops, cafes and restaurants in Newark. Or alternatively you can head to Thoresby and have a wonder around Thoresby Courtyard. Located in Thoresby estate’s old coach house you can wonder the 6 studios and their beautiful products.
